Marriage biodata format for a boy (groom)
वर बायोडाटा · Career-first · Family-friendly
A groom's marriage biodata is scanned in a very particular order by receiving families: height, education, current job, family, then everything else. Get the first three right and the biodata gets forwarded further into the family WhatsApp; get them wrong and it stops with the first reader.
Below is the field list the groom's side is expected to lead with, a copy- ready sample, community variations, PDF vs Word guidance, and 8 FAQs. Free, no watermark, stays on your device.

Sample biodata for boy
Height and job appear on the first two lines. A short honest "About" and a plain contact block close it. Traditional details are grouped near the bottom.
Community variations for grooms
Brahmin, Kayastha, Vaish, Rajput: lead with gotra, kuldev, rashi, nakshatra. Rajput biodatas add vansha (dynasty) below gotra.
Marathi: add kuldev, sub-caste (Deshastha, CKP, Kokanastha), and देवक for 96 Kuli Maratha families. Marathi Brahmin biodatas open with || श्री गणेशाय नमः ||.
Punjabi: most families expect subcaste (Khatri, Arora, Jat) and are less strict about rashi. Height, job, and income are scanned first. A recent portrait is important.
Muslim: drop rashi, nakshatra, gotra, kuldev. Add school of thought (Sunni / Shia, Barelvi / Deobandi) and mahr expectations if the family wants them stated.
Christian: add denomination (Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Pentecostal), parish, and confirmation status if the family cares. Opening line is a plain "Marriage biodata" eyebrow.
Jain, Buddhist, Sikh: Jain biodatas add panth (Digambar / Shwetambar). Sikh biodatas add gotra (Arora, Khatri, Jat) and mool. Buddhist biodatas usually drop astrology entirely.
PDF vs Word for a groom's biodata
PDF is default. Height and job on the first page, fonts embedded, no accidental edits, and every forwarded copy identical to the one you approved.
Word (.docx) is what a marriage bureau or matchmaker sometimes asks for so they can add their own header. Send Word only when asked; PDF is what receivers actually read.
Image (PNG) for WhatsApp Status. A groom's WhatsApp Status biodata occasionally reaches introverted receivers who won't message you first but will send it to their family group. Worth having.
Writing tips for a groom's biodata
Height must be accurate. This is the fastest way to lose trust if the meeting happens. Inches and centimetres together are fine.
Job title, company, work location. All three, not two. A title without a company reads as suspicious.
Income is optional. Include it if you are comfortable and the income is a positive signal. Skip if the salary is either between roles or the receiving family shouldn't be pre-filtering on it.
Photograph. A clear portrait, plain background, natural expression. A traditional outfit is fine. Avoid group photos, sunglasses, masks, and heavy filters.
Two sentences of "About". A groom writing three paragraphs about himself reads as trying too hard. Keep it grounded.
