Biodata WhatsApp messages that get a reply

WhatsApp does not auto-attach a PDF. After you forward or share a biodata, you still type a message. That one line (or small paragraph) sets the tone for how the receiver reads the PDF. Get it right and the biodata gets forwarded further; get it wrong and the chat sits unread.

Below are twelve copy-ready messages for the three situations that come up most often: sharing with family, sharing with friends and matchmakers, and following up when a reply is slow. Pick one, swap in the name, attach the PDF, send.

Formal, to a family or elder

Default template. Works for North and West Indian families alike. Honorifics kept warm, not stiff.

Namaste. Please find attached the marriage biodata of {Name}. If suitable, kindly let us know. We would be happy to discuss further at your convenience. Thank you.

Short, to a friend or extended family

One line. Use for cousins, friends who are helping, or chat groups where everyone already knows what the message is about.

Follow-up when a reply is slow

Rules of thumb

• Attach the PDF before you type the message. WhatsApp does not attach for you after send.
• Match the language of the message to the biodata, not your phone. A Marathi biodata with an English WhatsApp message signals a disconnect.
• Never send a photo-only screenshot of the biodata. The PDF stays legible when forwarded; a screenshot gets re-compressed on every forward.
• Keep the message short. The receiver can see the PDF in the chat; your job is to say who it is for and what you are asking.
• Honorifics are optional on WhatsApp. "Namaste", "नमस्ते", "नमस्कार" are fine. "जय श्री कृष्ण" is also fine when customary in your community.
